'92 F-150 clutch won't disengage

I don't drive my 1992 F-150 too much in the winter; today I tried to use it and I couldn't shift into gear when the engine was running. With the motor off, I'm able to move the gear shift into any gear, but I can't budge it out of neutral when the motor's running. The clutch and slave cylinder were replaced about 40,000 miles ago. The clutch worked fine two weeks ago. There's also plenty of fluid in the slave cylinder reservoir. I live in Michigan, but it hasn't been too cold here lately. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jim,

I had a similar problem on my 89. The Pilot bearing grabbed the shaft and by spinning the Shaft in the Trans, it would not allow me to shift. I had the same thought you did. CLUTCH. I was wrong. For $20 and a lot of work I replaced the pilot brearing. I needed to polish the shaft. If your shaft coming out of the trans is not happy (gouged)that is a new problem.

Best of luck, Joe

In my own world
The clutch pack spring wound itself around the throw out bearing on my 89. When I pushed the clutch in, the pedal would stay on the floor. I made it home by pulling the pedal back up, but by the time I got home, It would no longer shift, just like yours is doing now
