So the truck starts up just fine and it'll idle in place all day long, but when you turn the steering wheel the truck dies?

Unfortunately, there's no way other than dismantling the column down to the linkage for the ign switch. There have been untold issues with that piece of pot metal in there breaking. Most often, you'll have half of your toolbox out to do it too.

That weird shaped piece of pot metal is designed to maintain a uniform distance from the switch to the lock cylinder when using the tilt. Theres a rod and some "gears" in there as well. If you've never done one of these, be advised that there will be many small parts that need to be lined up simultaneously.

I hate the Gen8 steering column. That rod that the ignition switch controls breaks all the time preventing the use of ACC. It works now, but I have replaced it like 5 times.... :p

I wonder if it would be easier to source a junkyard column and just put your cylinder in it.

Its not the column that's messed up, its the linkage inside that's broken... Its not that difficult to take apart and fix...

Vince seems to lead on that its not that easy of a fix.

Its not hard to find or complicated to get to, its just a pain in the ass to get everything lined up... like drum brakes... 'smiliedoh' :p
