Hello all; I'm new to the forum and fairly new to ford diesels as well. \
I'm working on a 88' 4x4 project truck and have the option of using a 6.9 or a 7.3. Already have a sidewinder turbo, intercooler, 5 speed tranny/4.10 gears. I have heard that the 6.9 has thicker cyl walls, thus making it more durable than the 7.3, but that the 7.3 has other upgrades, such as better glow plug circuits, etc.
I'm looking more towards getting better mileage and longetivity rather than power and was wondering if replacing my 7.3 with a lower mileage 6.9, from a buddy's wrecked truck would have any pros and/or cons?
Thanks in advance, Chris
