4x4 problems

sometimes when i put the truck in 4x4 it makes a popping noise like a u joint or something. didnt hardly do it in the snow but when i was deer hunting last weekend and got hung up in a field it popped or clunked real bad. any way to test out what it is? it is a 94 f150 4x4 with manual hubs

Wheres the noise coming from? Wheel area--bad lockouts..........under the truck-----driveshaft splines, chain in the transfer case, and possibly a u-joint.

The ujiont will pop if bad. I know allot of people skip doing the inside ujiont when replacing outers (Guiltly ) And will cause good old bind in system.

sounds like its somewhere around the wheel> sometimes it clicks as well like the lockout isnt engaging or something
