4WD grinding noise

I have a 95 f150, and I have a grinding noise coming from the front drivers side when either that hub is locked or i engage the transfer case into 4hi or 4low. I can have the hub locked on the other side and there is no noise. What could be my problem. I just rebuilt the transmission, clutch, and transfer case, and new u-joints. I no for sure the noise is not coming from the transfer case.

Have the axle shaft u joints been replaced?

It can only be 1 of 2 things-- u-joint on left axle shaft or the left hub lockout. Pull your hub lockout and see if you find metal shavings inside-- then it's your hub. If not-- pursue replacement of the u-joint.

thanks i will start with the hub lockout, the u joint has not been changed, but it looks ok.
