I got a FOCUS not a Fusion. My head has been screwed up all day. I am suffering CRS can"t remember Sh!@.

I thought so, but I thought maybe you bought another car or I remembered something wrong.

Ben, if you want to take a drive or pay for shipping, I'm sure that I can get you into a well priced Fusion from my father...

Depending on how well priced, I would seriously consider that. You're about a half hour north of Atlanta right? If so, that's only about a 4-4.5 hour ride for me.

The Fusion/Milan's are solid cars. My wife bought an '07 new and still loves it. The V6 auto awd gets a regular 22 mpg (rated at 19-26) but has seen close to 30 on trips.

I agree with Vince about the chainsaw........

Thanks for the input. The main thing is just getting her in to something bigger and more quality, not so worried about mpg's. But as I said, she'll be driving 100+ miles a day and going from 35ishmpg's in her civic or 42mpg's in her Yaris, she's not looking to shock her bank account.

I'd go with the merc, with it being less expensive and probably a few more features.

I was thinking the same thing.

'08/'09 Fusions/Milan's seem to be going for $13-$15K out here. I think the 4 banger is plenty motor for the car, although I'd do a V6 if the deal was right enough. Oddly, it seems 4's and V6's are bringing the same money on the used side. Don't forget the Lincoln MKZ is also the same car, and not that far out price wise from it's siblings.

Hybrid? Nope- you wouldn't live long enough to realize the savings, IMO.

Yep and yep. I can make a phone call. PM me, or post, what exactly you are looking for... Price, mileage, must have options, etc.

Alright...she should finalize decisions soon and I'll give you a ring. Would this be strictly new stuff, or could he do something in the 07-09 range...that's more her price bracket...preferably under 16k.

Dad sells new and used. They can always pull in something if they don't have it, but the 07-09's seem to have a good home on the lot right now.

Buy the Ford, you can find one better equipped for less than the Lincoln or Mercury counterparts...

I do like the new '10 Fusions better when it comes to looks though...

New I'll 100% agree, but 07-09's the Mercs seem to be a couple grand cheaper.

Yeah same here...and if she can swing one under 20k, I'm sure she'd prefer it too.

Another question...with the model year ending soon, when is the best time to buy off the lot? Jump too early you might lose out on a killer deal, jump too late and the selection dwindles. Anyone have an idea?

Model year's mean nothing. The dead of winter is the best buyers market, spring/summer the best seller's market. Cancel all that if you're in the market for a 4X4 pickup- just the reverse is true.

Thanks Ernie. I just assumed model year was a factor because we're already getting the commericals and deals to push the '10s off the lot to make room for the '11s. So you're saying just hold our water and the winter deals will be even better?

Meh- inventories are lower too, so selection in the winter is a little lower. I've always approached it from the idea that each car and each deal stands on it's own.

She's not quite that close yet. I'm pretty sure she's gonna hold out until mid-fall and save more for the down payment.
