Hey guys, can anyone here help me locate what exactly I would need to rebuild both the front and rear axle for 4.10 gearing? I looked on Bronco Graveyard, but dont really know what to get. I have a 1995 F350 with Dana 60 axles, any help would be deeply appreciated.

Dude! I already walked you through this IN DEPTH. Lol!

Front:
*4.10 ring and pinion for Dana 60 (reverse rotation)
*3.93-and-up carrier (open or LS, whichever you prefer)
*Dana 60 rebuild kit (seals, bearings, shims, etc)

Rear:
*4.10 ring and pinion for Ford/Sterling 10.25
*Sterling 10.25 rebuild kit

Thats it ;) If you wanna install a new locker on the rear you could also get a new carrier back there, but it's not necessary.

I know you did lol, but I when I called the guy on the phone he wouldnt find me stuff because he wanted to know what size tire I wanted, and I wasnt ready to say what size, because i still may only go with a 305 or 285 size tire, but that still doesnt mean I wouldnt just want 4.10, why would that matter?

Why would tire size matter? Because your gearing is supposed to complement your tire size. Sounds like the guy was trying to offer advice but you've already decided what gearing you want to buy.

. 5 of the 6 F350 I had all were 4:10 rears. So they can be found.

Course the guy was just watching out for you tire size wise. if u were going to run 40's you would need lower gears. Good luck on your search

Well he did say this, that if i was going to tow with 35's that I would need 4.56, but i dont know often enough that i would want to have 4.56, but enough that I wouldnt mind having the extra power. But I think 4.10's will be just fine right? Even if i was towing? Also does anyone here know of a 35 inch E rated tire?

i assume you've seen this (elsewhere), but here's a chart of ideal gears/tire sizes
http://4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm

No, thank you I haven't scene that chart, thats very helpful. So I guess I would be more inclined to get 4.56 gearing if i did 35's, seeing its right in the middle of better gas mileage and more power. But wouldn't I need to change out the housing or carrier in the front differential If i went with gearing that big?

You'd have to change the front carrier even if you went to 4.10s. Once you pass the reach the 3.93 threshold you have to get a new carrier (for the front only).

because i still may only go with a 305 or 285 size tire

You do realize that those two sizes, when compared to their common counter parts are both 33's.... 285/75 is roughly a 33x11-11.50 and the 305/70 is pretty close to 33x12.50... Just throwing this out there...

Yes, just a tad smaller, but I will aim for 4.56. My question is will these bigger tires and larger gearing basically kill all of my top end that I have now? Like 90+? I love racing ricers and showing them up, but I would prob lose that right?

Increasing tires size will decrease RPMs at a given speed, while decreasing gear will increase RPMs for a given speed. The proper combination of tire size and gearing can bring your RPM-to-speed ratio back to nearly stock ratio.

Okay that sounds mint. My next question is, with the cost of all this including new tires and rims ect...I obviously wouldn't be able to afford tires for 2-3 months after the $2,000 to put gearing, so my question is will it effect my drive ability driving around with 31 inch tires with 4.56? Or will it really screw up the tranny and RPM's? Thanks everyone for responses its very helpful

Won't screw up anything, but you'll probably get bad gas mileage and you'll lose your top end, cuz you'll be turning 2300rpms at 65mph. Of course your truck will also pull a lot harder with all that gear under it and those small tires ;)

He's got a 7.5L in a brick of a truck..... :D

as to the question of loosing power with the swap of tires w/o gears, I have an '84 Bronco w/a 300-6 and a t-18, stock it had 235/75's and I swapped to 33x12.50's and it actually improved the all around performance of the rig and unless I plan to do any hardcore wheeling I'll be leaving the stock 3.55s in the truck.

About having to wait for tires, why not purchase the needed supplies as money is available then store the stuff till you have it all together then do it all at once?

That would be the ideal approach to stock pile all the supplies, but anyone who knows me knows I am a "now now now" guy and I hate waiting, but that is prob the smartest thing to do

You could stockpile the money for the parts in a savings account and earn a little interest on it, too.

That's maybe even smarter...

who has access to the codes on the rears for the 87-94?? i'm getting ready to swap rears if the gearing is close to what i got-it is 2 wheel drive and the truck I'm swaping from is 4 wheel drive-just want the whole rear drum to drum-got a 94 thar should work rather than pulling carrier and replaceing seals and bearings?
