Grabber Green Consultant
basically as the title says. i did some work on the frankenford today since it was a gorgeous day out. i tested the ECT and ACT sensors because i thought they were bad since they threw a code but the engine wasnt warmed up when i did the self test
since i got that figured out i decided to pull some plugs and and have a look on how they are doing since the rebuild 2 years ago.....needless to say they were in very poor shape!...haha here are the plugs. the pics are bad because it is a cell phone camera with a slightly scratched lens.
this is the same plug just flipped over
the gap on most of them was about .050!!! and all of them were a bad color and some of them had some deposits on them
i also decided to do a cap and rotor to it also since i had the time and money
and i couldnt help myself!!! i had to paint SOMETHING grabber green and this was the perfect candidate!
now when i plugged all the sensors back i that i was testing and put back together the new plugs, ca and rotor etc etc... i started the engine to make sure everything was good......
i now had a 3000rpm IDLE!!!!!! i was like WTF?!?!?!?!?! i checked all my work over and over and found nothing. so i started thinking of things but couldnt figure out WTH was going on. i knew it wasnt a vacuum leake becasue a leak THAT big wouldnt happen just like that....so i gave Chris (skandocious) a call....we were talking a couldnt really pinpoint the problem...then i told him i had a spare IAC out of an Aerostar. so i hung up while he was doing some research for me.....iac didnt help... so i was staring at my engine and it hit me.....i forgot to bend back the throttle bracket back to wear it was supposed to be..
i bent it just enough so i could get #2 plug out..and forgot to bend it back woops! i called chris back and we were both laughing haha
all in all the truck runs a bit better with the new plugs, rotor and GRABBER GREEN cap. i didnt do the wires because im looking for lime green plug wires.
