1977 Chevy Chevette

Hey guys, how goes?

Yea, I know its a Chevy, but I love these little Chevettes :D

I was recently offered a Chevette from one of my friends...

"It's a '77 with a 1.6L 4 cylinder engine (as opposed to the 1.4 option for that year). It has a 3 speed automatic transmission. The car is still pretty much made up of original parts, with the exception of the aftermarket CD player and speakers. It also has a CB radio with a PA switch leading to a loudspeaker under the hood, which I would most likely sell with the car.The car is currently sitting at 41,000 miles (roughly 66,000 kms)"

Everyone loves this car around here, and offers have been $750-$1000. What do you think? It's basically rust free, and drives great. Is a car like that worth $1000? If I'm going to be fuel efficient, I might as well be stylin' doing it :)

If you think a Chevette is stylish...I don't think I can help you.

Seriously...not a clue on value, but look on eBay, maybe. Whether it has any rust will make a huge difference in value, too.

haha... It takes a special kind of person to appreciate the beauty in a car like this. Google isn't helping me much, I'll try ebay

Dang- there's a trip down memory lane. My very first chevy demo in the biz was an Orange Chevette 2Dr with woodgrain (hey, it was the 70's). Wifey's first new car was a '79 Chevette. Weren't that bad back then- but the years fog the memory. Bet I'd be shocked if I drove one today.

Grandpa had a brown two door, with the diesel. Used to fill it up from the home heating oil tank, to avoid paying road tax. He painted the steel wheels bright yellow, and the bowtie on the grille bright red...didn't really improve the appearance much, but it did kinda make it unique.

*I'm a big fan of small cars, I really am. Whyn't you look for a Fiesta, though- now THERE was car. :p

Damn, haven't been around one of those since high school. A buddy of mine had one in high school we dropped a chevy 350 with automatic in it, along with a ford 9-inch rear end. It was quick in the quarter.

Best i could find was using Edmunds.com, they only went back to a 1980 Chevette, said it was worth $305 at a retail dealer.
