That's interesting, Is there a reason why the 400's peak HP varied @ different rpm from 77-79? I never relised they had so little HP, they aren't really doggy or anything. Of course someone put a mild cam(from the sound of it), edelbrock intake, msd super coil,msd wires, and a small 4 barrel carb on mine. Mine needs dual exhaust bad tho. I'm sure headers would wake it up, but headers always seem to leak and I wouldnt want to worry about that all the time. A few upgrades really do wake these engines up for sure.

Could be cam changes, carb variations, CR variations..who knows?
