1974 Camper Special help!

Hey y'all im just coming upon my dream truck a 1942 ford camper special and i am buying her for $200, needless to say she needs alot of elbow grease and some good ol fashioned TLC. the gal i am buying her from is more interested in getting rid of it then getting money for it. i am very much a do it yourselfer, everything from residing a house to building a room on the inside to welding a trailer from scratch ive probably done it. i also have access to industrial metal, wood, and auto shops. now while i am not very knowledgeable of mechanics (Other than airplanes) i have my grandfather (A mechanic of 40 years) and several friends and HS teachers to help me restore this ol girl. i would like some ideas on where to start and what should be done, step by step guides are very helpful as well. also talk about projects is very welcome.

Specs (That i know of, more coming tomorrow wen she gets to my house)
the year is 1974
It says ranger on it what is that if camper special is the trim package?
the vin says she is a ford F254, that is a 3/4 ton right?
the engine is a 6 Cylinder, what type i have no idea. that why im on here lol
the dash is not cracked that i can see,
no tailgate, easy enough to replace though

Ranger is just a trim package camper special is a whole differnt deal and pertains to the springs, hitch, radiator, motor, and dual batteries. If its a camper special it should have a badge on the fender that says camper special.

The bed I just got had a Trailer emblem shaped like the USA on the lower center part of the tailgate.

I believe that if the engine is the original 6 cylinder it would be a 300 ci.

The term RANGER is a Trim package as in visual chrome,interior,etc

You can have a Ranger,Ranger Explorer,Ranger XLT,Ranger Lariat

Mil1on i cant access your photobucket account, it says i must have a password. and where did you get the pictures of that magazine or manual or whatever it was?

1985 Ford F-150 it says Ranger and camper special on it, thanks for clearing that up. and yeah a country boy can survive, made it too far to give up now.

and to everyone, due to financial situations and a family emergency i wont be getting her home just yet, plan on doin it as soon as i can thanks.

SCS was on the 140" wb...cs was on the 133" wb until 77 or 78, then the Super was dropped.
