1973 F250 4x4 Highboy

Under the hood, on the driver's side, there's a large area and a square metal strap for storing something. What was that originally for? A toolbox? I think behind that, is a spot for a bottle jack. Can anyone enlighten me? I can't find much online.

Thanks, Jeff

Pretty sure that is for the jack....near the front?

My thoughts are also for the jack and lug wrench, for that's where they're at on my 1978 F-150 Ranger Lariat so I'd say that is the standard spot for the jack and lug wrench on the 73-79 Ford trucks, and I believe the jack handle is stored on the top of the core support.smilieFordlogo smilieFordlogo smilieFordlogo smilieFordlogo

It could have been for a lug wrench,if you already know the jack
went in the other spot.
Im not sure where my lug wrench was,but my jack is still there.
The jack scew handle is mounted behind the seat with factory clips.
The lug wrench may suppose to be in the cab with it.

Strap could be for a battery.Did you find any evidence of any
xtra wire or cables?:)
