No. 1 is front right? Timing marks on balencer? See a large groove but dosent line up. Should be at 8*? Thanks Neil

Yes, No. 1 is front right, from the cab. There should be timing marks on the harmonic balancer. They should be stamped into the balancer.

The notch should be "zero". There should be numbers on both sides for ATDC and BTDC.

An "SOS" steel wool pad does a great job of cleaning the timing marks, then you can put "white out" on the timing marks and when you use the timing gun you will have no problem reading the degrees

A plain old graphite pencil will show up well under a timing light as well.

You will be fine running at 8 degrees but if memory serves, the factory spec is 6 degrees.

I would get the occasional knock and ping at 8* so I went back to 6*
(Really didn't change much in the performance)
