Gonna start freshening up my Dads 64 Falcon Sprint with him. We brought it up to my shop today. It has the 260 V8 and the 2 speed slip-omatic. It was his daily driver for years, but he parked it about 5 years ago, wanting to start working on it.

I said freshening up, because we really can't call it a restoration. Plans are to strip it down, weld in new sheet metal as needed
teardrop bubble hood
New interior and wiring
swap the 8 inch rear for a nine inch
swap the slip-omatic for a c-6
351 windsor bored and stroked to 420
mustang II front end
4 wheel discs

And-

To quote Dad- "A damn defroster that works!!!" :D

I will, but the progress will probably be slow. It's gonna take a bunch of money to get it how he wants it. He's going to get what he can here and there.

I tell ya what... makes me a little sad. Andy and I have a friend with a 1962(ish) Falcon just waiting to be restored. It was a high school project his dad was ready to fully back financially and he got lazy and it's now sitting in a field.

This car looks great as it is. I'm excited to watch this unfold.

nice, looks like a fun project

I didn't know you could go all the way to 420 with a 351w?
(needs a 460!)

Yup. A 351w will go a little past 420. A 460 would require way too much front end modification to fit it, and why go the extra weight.

Can anyone say torque monster?

Btw, are you building it for street/strip duty or just street.. or just strip? Lol. 1/8th or 1/4?

Nice ride, I had a 66 Falcon Futura Sport Coupe that I never got around to finishing. If I might recomend you only go as far as a 408 with the 351, unless it's going to be a drag car mostly, I did quite a bit of research when I built my 408 for my mustang and anything over 408ci starts to get extreme connecting rod angles and you'll get excessive piston skirt slapping and wear. Unless they've come up with a better kit since I did mine 10 years ago. Just my 2 cents..

I also had one, a 65 2dr Falcon Futura hrdtp, 289 car
I dropped a 351W in it, I have heard that the 408 stroker seems to work best?,
check Californiahighperformance they make some good stroker kits and go higher then 420
nice ride man, can wait to see more

Are you going to do any fab to beef up the "torque box" to the front clip?
Some kind of "sub-frame" connector?

I had a '63 Fairlane 500 Sport Coupe and it used to flex around quite a bit with a motor that was nowhere near as powerful as what you are putting in there.

We're thinking different ways to handle that. Maybe even going as far as a tube front end similar to what dearborn steel built for the thunderbolt fairlanes.
