2002 Ranger 4.0 v 6 4 x 4 has been sitting about a year . It cranks fine but will not start . It will fire with a shot of gas mist or starting fluid in the intake . I'm an old school guy from when we had carbs and mechanical fuel pumps . Could this be a fuel regulator , fuel pump or fuel filter problem ? Is the regulator on fuel rail or in the tank with the fuel pump ? I really hate working on newer stuff . Everything is stuffed in and no place to work /

Likely to be fuel pump related, whether control or pump itaelf.
