1. 79 f150 4x4...long slow build coming up!

At 3 years later, it’s been my daily driver for 2 years (my wagon in the pic got totaled). Just hit 55,000 miles on the odometer (I set it at 0 when I built it. Only issue I’ve had so far is a bad distributor. For the last 18 months I’ve been driving 60 miles a day to work and back with my job...
2. upgrading interior body clips

I tried a few years ago but the clips I had (the cheap replacements from Oriellys that were leftovers from my 96 f250) the head of the clip was to big to fit the panel properly. I'm sure some brands will fit better than others tho.
3. Finding exhaust for 79

Any exhaust shop can make it. If you can't get the truck to a shop (this sounds ghetto but it works!) use pvc pipe and elbows to make a y-pipe that routes where u need it and take that into an exhaust shop so they have a pattern.
4. 2wd to 4x4 conversion people, I have questions for you who have done it!

So you going 4wd or staying 2? My dad converted an 87 dodge 2wd to 4wd a while back using a highboy 4wheel drive system and a 360 FE/c6 np205 combo. To ditch the highboy steering he used a steering box and all linkages from a 78/79 dodge 4wd. Worked like a charm. Just a thought as long as you...
5. So this happened...

Anxious to see how this comes out. I was looking under an 08 (?) a while back trying to figure out if I could adapt it to my 79 f150 since it's radius arms also.
6. 79 f150 4x4...long slow build coming up!

The only glitches on the trip (a touch over 3600 miles) was a clogged fuel filter, a nail in a tire and had to fill rear diff fluid. 14mpg at 2850 rpm ( 80 mph) for 900 miles a day isn't to bad! Especially with the altitude changes in the mountains and 1800 lbs in the bed on the way there! I...
7. 79 f150 4x4...long slow build coming up!

I recently drove it from central il to Las Vegas averaging 14 mpg with around 1800 lbs of parts in the bed. Will try to upload trip pictures later tonight.
8. 79 f150 4x4...long slow build coming up!

I completely forgot about this thread. Here's a few updated pics [/IMG][/IMG]
9. 79 f150 4x4...long slow build coming up!

Well, almost a full year later and it's almost on the road! Body is swapped, brakes, cooling, and fuel system are 100% new (38 gallon fuel tank installed). I have put about 100 miles on it so far...I really should license it before to long I guess. All that's left now is a bad alternator. Gotta...
10. Tilt front end?

Who here has a tilt front end? Can I get pics of the hinge and the latch setups please? I've always wanted a steel tilt on one of my vehicles, may as well do it to my 79 I figure. Thanks!![/IMG]
11. What did you do to your Dent today

Walked past mine 3 times today...1st trip past I thought "I should just sell it and be done". 2nd trip past I thought "I need to make a list of what needs done to sell it"'. 3rd trip past I stopped and stared and thought "can't wait to get it going so I can sell my other truck"! It's going back...
12. Restoration

Another thing to consider though, off the showroom floor, the fit and finish wasn't that great anyways, so u will need to decide if u want a day one resto, a better than factory resto or a really nice driver resto.
13. Restoration

LMC is good for driver quality builds, but for a show quality I recommend the places mil1ion mentioned. Don't get me wrong, LMC canbe used for show quality but the price of making adjustments as opposed to buying a better quality to begin with won't save u any money. We do resto work at the...
