Bronco bucket seats

So Conner and I were lookin' at some broncos and I got to thinking... I've got 6 danged seats in my truck. SIX seats! I don't need 6 danged seats-- I don't even need 5 seats. I've only got 1 friend!

So I'm wondering... That setup in the broncos with the 2 buckets and the center storage tub is pretty sweet. I'd love to be able to climb from the front to back without having to climb up over the damned 3rd jumper seat. So I was thinkin it would be cool to switch to a bronco setup but the problem is I don't think I'll be able to find another set seats that's as clean as mine...

Question: Are the seats the same from bronco to F150 (except the arm rests)? Could I add the arm rests to my seats, delete the jumper seat, and add a storage tub from a junker? Man that would be awesome.

Pretty sure Ive seen someone do this before, if anything it would be very little Modification.

That would be awesome if you did this! Im in the process of making my Premium Bench seat have an electric slider on it =]

Other than armrests (I bet the wholes r there for bolts cable and spring set up) Its straight forward . But I'd make a oak (or what ever wood even if painting ) Console . As the cup holders need to be higher (deeper to ) And I would like plugs for (Heck put a ac/dc convertor in bottom ) A dvd player (u could build one in ) to name one for the kids in back ) As well as a place to charge phone etc built in.

I have seen them built from fiberglass BUt I hate working with it .

Okay so here's what I [sorta] know.

-My brother says he's had the seat covers off of hit seats several times and he's almost positive there's nowhere to bolt up an arm rest.
-He also said when you remove the seats, the center jumper seat's bracket EXTEND underneath the driver and seat brackets (the jumper seat is sandwiched to the floor by the other two seats) and he's pretty sure the chairs would sit cock-eyed if they didn't have the jumper bracket to sit on

That being said-- it looks like my best bet is going to be to find a set of bronco buckets, but they're not gonna be cheap because I need some that look nearly brand new like mine. I'm gonna get in contact with some truck dismantlers and see if I can trade my seats straight up. We'll see what happens.

You r right on most but the jumper mount diff is not great . I've removed them before . But there is more than just armrest there r cables etc . (But you can get then at same place as armrests .

Larry do you think it's possible to mount the armrest mechanisms on an 40/20/40 seat like mine? Don't say "anything is possible"-- is it realistic?

Hey skan I just thought . You dont use the seat forward function. (so someone can get in back ) So I'd check and see if ur seats have bolt hole for arm rests . They still would work fine (my one cable broke )

As u said your r in a-1 shape . The =n sell jumper (or put in corner ) On eBay they average $300 u know or sell it to me.

well since i have buckets in my truck, the 92-96 bronco seats are the exact same thing, just buy a seat of seats and reupholster them, like brand new out of the factor.

I've got a fair amount of seat time in two relevant trucks:
-'95 F-350 XLT with 40/20/40 cloth bench (power lumbar)
-'89 F-150 XLT Lariat with buckets and center console

First of all...the F-350 is, bar none, the most comfortable vehicle seat I've ever spent a LONG time driving/riding in. But the F-150 interior was more beatup and worn out, so it may well have been equally comfortable when it was new.

The Ford plastic console isn't really that great, IMO. I can't reach the bottom of it while I'm driving easily, and it doesn't have a shelf in the middle, so I can't really use it for things I want access to while driving (can of coins for tolls, mints, etc.) And the cupholders kinda suck in that one, but it looks like they changed that by the time Anthony's was built, so... All in all, I don't think the Ford console is a big step up (more like sideways- better in some ways, worse in others) from the center seat you've got. Probably building your own or going aftermarket would get you a much better end result. And since you've got an automatic and electric-shift t-case, you could really go to town with it if you wanted (sort of along the lines of what some higher-trim Explorers did).

Obviously it's all personal preference, so do what you want. If you decide to put a console of some sort in it, I'd suggest putting a 12v socket or two in the console while you've got the seats out and it's easier to hide wires. Mom's car has one there (as did a rental I had recently) and it's nice to be able to leave stuff plugged in without having the wire sticking out of the dash.

*Hey, wait a minute. You have a girlfriend. Flip up that armrest and let her sit in the middle next to you.
