Eastwood is were I last bought the body lead.
Lead worries you could wear a mask if you want with the proper cartridges.
Good gloves to keep the lead off you hands and a mask you should be good.

The never body sticks have been reformulated to make them less toxic.
you can use lead free solder from the hardware store just twist or braid a rope of it and get to work.
If you are doing it on visible body panels you will need paddles to move the lead. A google search will bring up suppliers.

Any chain hardware stores carry them I wonder? Will Google them to see. Thanks Smokey, lead definitely sounds like a permanent fix. Kinda wary of using the epoxy metal stuff...

I wonder if they still have me on record... it has been a while...

In my opinion you don't need a mask for working with lead as a "hobby".

My brother in law in south central Arkansas is a bullet casting nut! :)
Spends lots of time in -a little room- casting bullets.

He was having trouble so they tested him for lead and other metals,
turned out he was much cleaner than the average city slicker! LOL :)

See it?

City car exhaust brought the national lead-average up so high it made
a bullet caster out in the sticks seem lead free, ...was the conclusion.

Agree, disagree? :)

Also, I'd bet that the lead sold for the purpose of doing body work is
relatively arsenic free too. Cable sheathing is supposed to be extra
high in arsenic. And yeah, Boolit-casters test their lead so they know
what they are working with, if nothing else. :)

I'll admit I seldom ever where a mask when doing lead work. Last blood test I had my levels were low and I have been doing this for years along with sanding old paint off cars that contains led.

I'm seriously gonna look into getting some lead and a blow torch and trying this out on the floor of the cab. Smokey, how do you go about making the leading smooth after you finish?

Yeah, a few years ago I picked up a 5 gallon compressor thinking, I won't ever need air tools.... What a dumb a$$. Wishing I had one with a bigger tank now.

Another question about the soldering lead sticks. How far would a pound stick go? Was thinking about ordering a pound and their 3 pack of solder paddles. The pound stick is like $20 and the 3 paddles are $16.
