Can you even run gasoline at 14.7:1? That's assuming your taking about compression ratio and not air/fuel ratio

cool build! i been reading this and wounding is the custom "compression lowering" cam really needed? have you had problems in the past? i only ask becuase i rather new to ford big blocks and i have a dove-c 429 with 10.5:1, rv cam and some head work (polished 140 grit combustion chambers, light port match and emission hump removal on exhuast, port match on the intake) that runs 91 oct just fine. using a stock 351m duraspark dissy. i havnt done any real tuning on this engine, just set the base timing at 6 btdc

To part match and keep it in the rpm range I want it without detonating and putting holes in my piston, yes the cam grind is necessary. No real magic stuff other than keeping the valves open a little longer...
