Yea,it was based on what the customer wanted. It did come on some packages standard like the Free Wheeling packages, but I don't know about the Explorer packaged trucks.

That's also part of the Sports Instrumentation package. The sports instrumentation package included the tach, oil pressure gauge, ammeter, and the trip odometer. However, the oil pressure gauge and ammeter could be had as a separate option if the customer didn't want a tach or trip odometer.

Yea,there's certain areas where they're real popular, and others where they're not.Around here,I don't seem them much at all. Most of the trucks in the junkyards here are Customs, which usually didn't have tachs. Tachs are one of the first things people swap in to these trucks.

Hey, some cool trucks here guys.

I'll try to get some pics of my truck up. It's mostly stock but in nice shape for 30 years old.

Ok, here's a few pics as promised.

And how the engine currently looks. Doing final assembly now and should have it in the truck in the next few weeks.

Yeah, how'd you know?

I kinda like the manual brakes.

I saw that you had the 5x5 1/2 wheels on the truck from an F150.

F100's were kinda strange when it came to brakes. If the truck has Manual Brakes, it got the 5x5 1/2 lug pattern, along with 11" brakes(Same as the F150). If the truck had Power Brakes, it got the 5x4 1/2 lug pattern (83-present Ranger) and 10" brakes. However, if the truck had power brakes and a 5,000 # GVWR, then it got the 5x5 1/2 lug pattern and 11" brakes. This info only applies to the F100, from 1980-1983.

My F100 has power brakes, but it also has the 5150 GVWR, so it has the 5x5 1/2 lug pattern and 12" Brakes.

wow, thats awesome that you know all that!

One of the first things I did when I got my truck was change the wheels. It had white steel wheels that weighed a tonne and looked super dorky.

lol,Thanks.

Same here. When I picked up my new wheels, I didn't know about the F100's having two different lug patterns. I just happened to get lucky and had the larger lug pattern.

The steel wheels sure are ugly aren't they?

Nice truck. That step thing on the front looks handy for working on it.
