you re right on the money, buy a weiand intake, an rv cam, a small 4bbl carb long tubes and a straight up timing chain and you are on the 300 horses and lots of tq..... ANDDD please its just 400 no m there...
Whats up, my 02,holley= more performance but a pain to tune
edelbrock=less performance but a child can easily tune it, is more reliable and can go for a lot longer without any servicingJoe
YEah those pushrods are a bit better than stock with the same exact dimensions. But why are you changing your pushrods? If it was me, I would take a stock pushrod and the best looking pair of stock rocker arms (those things tend to be worn when this old, thats why testing on 2 is a good idea)...
Its more like a range for certain type of cams, its not that precise as you are thinking, besides he has ALOT of experience so you wont go wrong there. Trust those springs they are good for.Oh and for reference, go to compcams.com and open up the spec card for different Hyd flat tappet cams...
Yeah, I have and use this one, Its hard to find it online or at least for me :Dhttp://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Overhead-Valve-Compressor-Autocraft_9019987-P_N3491_T|GRP2083____
Na, its not that tough of a job you can do both things in a day, its cool to have a pal over to help you rotate the engine or whatever else. If you're changing the cam that means you will have access to the timing chain, Tdc of number 1 cylinder is dot over dot, I also use a screwdriver in a...
you can try gapping the sp2p intake in between the planes to get a single plane effect on higher rpm.... not too much thoughor you will ruin your port speed... theres a perfect example in the new TMI built, look at the air gap manifold...
You could probably get away with a dual energy, 255 deh or 265deh, but with a stock 400 i would go with the xe256 and new push rods...With the stock steal rocker amrs you can get away with a bit of push rod length, if you have roller rockers thats a whole different story...
The socket size is 5/8" but the diameter or thread size is 3/8"-16, im almost sure hehe, i recently upgraded to a hydraulic rolller on my 400...Ok bout the new cam, yes you need new springs with better preasure ( dual springs are an overkill here, and you could flatten a lobe!!!) and new cam...
hi DNFXDLI, i need a reference, im using the 3v heads, those lunati roller lifters with a very similar custom comp cam to yours and the comp cams double springs 924-16, do you know what kind of push rods tim is using on yours? length¿? I measured my needs but wanted to have a reference as i said...
These guys are using them to drag race behind 460 and to be able to go home on a 800 hp car, now my engine is putting 425 hp im not really needing a 1000hp aod,http://www.429-460.com/transmission-tech-f7/aod-behind-a-bbf-t526.htmAs everything, for people, Aods are crap as 400 "m" are crap...
An AOd well built would kill any stock c6, they are getting really famous around hot roders, and OD units are way to expensive 3-4k. A good junkyard aod can be had around 100-200 bucks and a good 700hp rebuilt with stout parts can go around 1000 bucks, besides pantera fellas, why do you think...
Now you are taliking bigger dollars, If its highway or road traveling an AOD or any overdrive unit will get you even better mpgs than an efi and it would be cheaper and less complicated.... around 1500-2000$?? a good efi will be more close to the 3k than 2...
well theeres always expensive ways of getting better mpgs, compression, better engine components, Im currently preparing an aod swapp for my 408, its pretty easy now but still a bit expensive ( about 1500 bucks if you do the job yourself) but will increase significantly my mpg, theres tons of...
Another funny thing about the article, your think stock rods conditioned with arp bolts could take 568 hp., or even 6500 rpm? I'm amazed it passed the dyno pulls, but how long is this engine gonna last?I wanted to go chi on my Tmi 408, but my peak power is guesstimated at 505 hp @6000 rpm...
