zf 2wd SCSWB swap

Hey guys,
I have a 95 4.9 SCSWB m5od and I was looking to do the zf swap. All seems well until I get to the drive shaft needing the slip joint to accomodate the fixed yoke of the zf. Has anyone done this swap before and if so, what drive shaft did you use? Im just trying to do a little research before I start to unbolt the existing tranny. I know I might have to go the custom drive shaft route. I just wanted to see if there was a factory shaft that would do the job.
Thanks in advance for any input.

You have to get like cab type in a f250 good luck they exist but rare as long beds r the norm . Or just get longer shaft and have shortened . Way cheaper than having one made up.

There is 3" difference if I remember from zf to M5

Thanks for the reply.I dont think there were many SCSWB F250s. I understand the same configuration thing. My problem is finding out the driveshaft lengths of different cab/bed combos. I need a 59 inch driveshaft with a slip spline setup. Trans length difference is 6 inches. The ZF is 27.750 from the bellhousing face to the center of the ujoint and the M5OD is 33.750. The f250 rear was 3 inches longer at the pinion. The problem I am running into is once the driveshaft hits a certain length, it goes to a two piece design. Is there any info out there on ford driveshaft lengths? I havent had any luck finding any.

Well, I went with the custom driveshaft and will find out soon if I like the zf trans instead of the m5od. Huntsville Driveshaft did a fine job. I almost dont want to put it under the truck it looks so good...

Well you beat me to it, I was fixin' to tell you to do just-that. :)
You can't have too good of a driveshaft in an "on highway truck". xD

^45" Walker Thrush and it's 2+1/2" inside all-the-way-through.
...not like CherryBomb's with their smaller pipes inside.
The case is 4" so used 4" pipe clamps for a hangers. :)
Just thought I'd throw that in. ;)

Alvin, did you swap out the TTB for TIB in your Bronc?
Cool question. :)

Nope.

Was planning to but the 2wd setup was like 2+1/2" lower.

And I was spooked that the turning radius might be less! 8/
That was the main reason to get the Bronco and use the
F150 Super Cab land-yacht for parts. LOL :)

The plan is to remove the round part and box in the left
TTB later, figure I can use pickup frame material for that?

Well, I finally got around to do the swap and Im glad I did it. Everything worked out well. I was able to use the m5od crossmember and trans mount and the reverse light harness plugged right in. It is a more truck oriented trans and isn't that much louder than the m5od. I replaced the upper and lower shifter boots also.

Cool! :)

My wife has taken over my Bronco with the ZF, I hardly get to drive it
anymore. LOL :)

She thinks it's cool when guys look over and see the Bronco's a manual
when the "truck" they're driving has a sissy automatic. LOL :)
