It starts with basics------if its got fuel/spark/and its in time, it'll start.

i have talked to people and they said cause the cold weather i might need to check the timing. what do you think

If the timing was off, it wouldn't make a difference cold or hot. I would lean toward choke or fuel delivery.

well the last time i had the timing checked it was off 20 degrees. it ran fine until the other day when i need it. it started then i drove it a little bit. i parked and didnt shut it off but it died. i think it might be the timing tho.

i bought the truck a while back and the milage says its got around 400 000 to 500 000 its def. not the same motor but how could you tell its the timing chain

the bad thing is is that i dont no how many miles are on that motor. if you can figure out what the cause is i would greatly appreciate

pull #1 spark plug, put your finger over the hole, and have someone crank the motor. Immediately, when the compression blows your finger off the hole, stop cranking. The #1 cylinder should be at tdc. see if the timing mark lines up. If you dont have compression, I would suspect a chain.

i have sucessfully started my truck and it dies every now and then. but i think i might have a little bit of condesation or water in my tank from sitting. i am going to try to put some heet in it and some fresh gas cause it will fire with ether. so i will try that and see. thanks for all of the help i appreciate it greatly.
