Windshield Wiper Problem

Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with my windshield wipers.

When I want to turn my windshield wipers on, I have to come to a complete stop and put the gear shift lever in park, then select the wiper function on the multi-function switch. Same scenario when I want to turn the wipers off. I cannot switch the wipers on/off when the shifter is in any other position but park, though every other function works fine (signals/brights), in all shifter positions.

What is going on here. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or schematic that I could take a look at?

I'd start by looking at the wires and connectors in your steering column, in particular the connectors at the rear of your combination switch. If you have a tilt wheel, at times the wires can become pulled loose from the connectors when the tilt is used. Pinched wires are also a concern.
