What to ask

I'm seriously thinking of selling my truck. I am really bad at judging what its worth. I know I had no problem paying $3500 for it. I don't think I will take any less than $3000 for it. I'm just wondering what your opinions are. First I'm going to ask my dad if he wants to buy it for $2500(family discount).
The bad about the truck.
Needs new heater core.
Still running a little rough at idle.
Needs new carpet or rubber flooring.
Has surface rust around drip rail on driver side and one spot above windshield.
Most major, lots of clear coat peel on upper half of truck.
Tares in front bench.

It's going to be different region to region, I would pick up the old car trader and see what people are asking there.

78,just an fyi, I do have experience in used vehicle sales, your truck is pretty decent.judgeing from the pic & your honesty of the issues & keep in mind most used older vehicles do have mechanical issues.i would start my asking price around the 4500-5k range, you can always come down, cant go up when you set the price.this gives you room to negotiate the issues of the vehicle,so you can get what you really want out of it.a truck like that here in Ohio would be in that range, reguardless of age.heck 4x4 trucks here 10 yrs or older in decent shape are bringing at least 7500 or more even with issues.

Do you really have to sell it?, it would be a shame to lose such a solid truck.
