The money situation is turning out to be a little different than I had anticipated. I guess I can throw a good bit of cash in to the truck now.

Time to convert to 4x4! smilieFordlogo

What do I need parts-wise to get the truck turning all four?

Front Axle preferably Hub to Hub,Transfer Case,Transmission w/4x4 Tailshaft, and Driveshafts for a quick list.

I know for my TTB swap I have to do a bunch of stupid stuff like get a new Crossmember and swap my rear shackles and Hangers.I'm not so sure the specifics of throwing 4x4 stuff into anything older than a 7th gen,but you'll obviously need to cut a hole in your floor for the T-Case Shifter. You'll also have to make sure Your Front and Rear ratios are as close as possible to each other.

Hopefully you can Find a D44 that isn't being sold for an Arm and a Leg.I think Bronco Graveyard sells em complete, but they're pretty pricey IIRC.

Not to be a dick...but this is one of those things, if you have to ask, you shouldn't do it. Not saying it's impossible, but it can be involved. Easiest thing to do will be grabbing an entire donor truck. But try and calculate/guesstimate any rebuilds, because you don't want to be throwing bad parts in a fresh conversion.

Shaun got most of the big stuff I would have recommended, but you don't need an entirely new tranny...just swap tailshafts. Then cross members, brackets, etc.

D44's aren't too expensive at all, they're actually pretty dirt cheap actually because everyone wants the 60. I can think of probably 5 44's off the top of my head under $250 that could be placed under a rig no questions asked. I know of another few that need rebuilding for under $100.

Anyway...you'll be money ahead just buying a 4x4 and enjoying your truck for what it is...no need to hack it up. But it's your truck, do what you want.

I actually wasn't too sure about the Transmission.I know on my C6 the Output shaft will need to be changed to fir the T-Case.

Down here we seem to have alot of F150's and Broncos, and everybody from Backwoods Hillbillies to Preps McMallcrawler wants to have a Straight Axle in their truck. So,people think they can get top dollar for their straight axles whether it be a D44,44 HD or a 60.I agree with Ben though, try and get a parts truck. My Buddy just picked up a D44 for his F150,and the guy he got it from was nice enough to torch the Radius Arms in half.Finding Radius Arms isn't exactly as easy as it would seem.Junkyards like to crush anything older than 79 around here,so you better be there when that truck touches the ground in the yard.

Buy a working 4x4 and put all your Cab and Box ewtc bling on it .

IMO< It isn't worth the time and energy converting a 4x2 over
