Vin engine code H ????

Its a 1984 with a factory Holly 4 barrel carb on it,I dont know one thing about Ford!!It has this # on the passengers side valve pan cover..............W ZK408 AA if this means anything????....Coldsteel

Vin code H is a 5.8 351W 4bbl.

Thanks,do you know anything like rated HP?Is this what was called a 351 H.O.? And do you know if its a roller motor or not? Again I dont know one thing about Ford Engine's. Thanks for the help .......Coldsteel

its just a Flat Tappet Hydraulic Roller Cam engine.. with it being a 84 probably has D8 (1978 heads) which are piss poor...

the Cam is the only real difference between a H.O. and a regular 2 bbl 351W.

its got a Marine Cam, a good bit more lift... than a stock cam..

stock rated horsepower: H.O. 210 HP, 2 bbl 150 HP.

In a truck it is more about torque than HP.
Gone are the days of the OLD Style Muscle cars.

Also back then HP was measured at the crankshaft.. these days it is measured at the rear wheels based on OEM tire size

150? Damn, my 302 is rated at 35 more HP.

different rating cause yours has EFI..... the EFI makes it more efficiant and produce more horsepower... plus i believe its a slightly different way of rating..

the Carbed 302's had only 135 HP or so.... EFI is when it jumped up to 185..

351W at 150. similar EFI jumped up to 210... same as the HO carbed 351W's

just so you get a good idea of where your truck stacks up...

300 I6, 4.9L
1980-86 300 I6 Carbed- 120 HP, between 230-255 TQ
87 & ^ 300 I6 EFI- 165 HP, 275 TQ

302 V8, 5.0L
1980-85 Carbed 302- 133 HP, 233 TQ
85 & ^ 302 EFI- 185 HP, 270 TQ

351W V8, 5.8L
1980-82 351W 2 bbl 136 HP, 262 TQ
83-85 351W 2bbl 150 HP, 280 TQ
84-87 351W H.O. 4 BBL 210 HP, 305 TQ
88 & ^ 351W EFI 210 HP, 315 TQ.

No it isn't....it is measured at the crank.

it is indeed measured at the crank still.

stock 2011 Mustang 5.0 412 HP at the crank, ends up being around 370 or so at the wheels... dyno tested and proven...
