Trailer Hitch Wiring 2002 F150

Just bought an F150 with factory tow package. 7 point plug has a brown w/ green stripe wire going to center pin. Can't figure out what it is for. Need to connect my back up lights to center pin but don't want to disconnect it without knowing what it is for. I already put a voltmeter on it and turned on all lights, fog lights, brakes etc. but no reading. Found a wiring diagram but no brown/green wire. Can someone help me out? Thanks

If I recall, it can be either an auxillary circuit or reverse lights.

Thanks to both of you but I put it in reverse and there is no power to the pin. I saw the wire to the back up lights is black/pink on a diagram and found it on the truck but this is Brown/green and I can't for the life of me get power to it. I traced it to the harness that goes to front of the truck.:hammer: Thanks again PS what would an auxiliary circuit be? Is it just a dead wire to be hooked up later?

Thanks Blacksnapon, maybe it is blk/Green, just faded. Any ideas why it isn't hot. I tried tracing it but lost it in the harness. Everything else works fine but not that wire which I need to release the brakes on my trailer( surge brakes) when I back up.

I think it may be in the secondary power distribution under the hood, at least that is where it is on my 05 SD.

Thanks Mark any idea where the fuse might be?

My E350 has a fuse box under the hood that has the trailer plug fuses in it. I don't know it if there's fuse installed from the factory for the back up lights or not.
I'm going to be researching this myself soon . The new hitch I just installed on one of my trailers has a powered solenoid to block the brake fluid for backing up.
And it's supposed to be powered by the back up lights .

Thanks guys, I found the fuse, its #5 in the power distribution box. Sad news is its good!! Back to square one. I guess I'll just have to splice into the back up lights and cut the br/green wire. I hate doing a sloppy job. If anyone has anymore ideas I'll be very grateful. Thanks for your help.

Check the connection into the connector on the truck. Then start checking the wires from that point to the connection block.

Found great wiring diagrams on autozone, think it will be easier to figure out now. Thanks to all of you for your help.
