Torqueshift Trans 30K maintenance?

What is supposed to get changed on the 30K maintenance on the T-shift transmission? Reading several threads on the subject there seems to be a variety of opinion. I am guessing the external filter(toilet paper like) and about 8 qts of Mercron SP? I am right in the window to perform this and would like to get it completed before I start hauling the boat around this summer. Thanks.

We change the external filter and flush the complete trans of all fluid. Make sure to use Mercon SP also it's not cheap, I usually run about 22 quarts through them to make sure there clean.

Just shop around. Many places just drain and fill (drop the pan), and replace the filter roll.

Since I cannot respond and topic was not covered. The flush machine used on a Torqshift trans must be a heated machine, as the torqshift has a thermostat in it that will not allow a regular machine to transfer all the fluid out. Don't want you to get taken by a bad Ford or Indie shop cause you didn't know what was required to perform the service.

Mods, lock or merge the threads if you like.

Yeah I kind of figured there was more to it than just draining the fluid and changing the filter.

I have never read much about this transmission. You mentioned a thermostat. That totally makes sense. I had never figured that was the reason that the transmission temperature gauge starts to have a reading so soon.

Ok so far I've called two local dealers and the guy answering the phone is not aware that there is an external filter. Also no straight answer as to what Ford actually requires. I get so much more satisfaction on this board!!! Damn It Dave why did I have to leave Connecticut??!!!

You need to come back. If they don't know about the external filter thats not the place to go. Tell them you need about 22qts of mercon SP and the toilet paper external filter. I can get a part # for you if needed. I probably have one on the shelf accually.
