I'm having a heck of a time getting this Holley on this 460 to tune right stumble jerk bounce low vac smokes black when i'm get a lean knock.
I can't find any leaks unless there is a ton of them and they are all very small I'm not using a carb spacer if I put one on would it help any or should I just get a better carb like a Edelbrock. It run great with that edelbrock on it but my dumb butt goes off trying to be all smooth and slap a holley on it.. Any help would be awesome guys thanks a lot

An Edelbrock isn't necessarily a better carb. It's all about how well set up it is.

Sounds like you don't have the right tools to set up a carb. I am no carb guru, but at the very least you need to be able to read the exhaust gases to know how rich/lean it is then adjust accordingly. Then smoke test to find leaks.

I doubt if a spacer is the answer.

Well I don't know how to read the exhaust.
But I tuned the holley on my 302 just fine but this thing will not turn I wonder if I got to small of a cfm on this.

Holley people I have a question!/need help!

460,timing is right clean fuel filter all vac ports plugged checked for leaks by spraying starting fluid and a stethoscope around the manifold and carb base I can not find any leaks.
Ok carb will not lean out runs rich will not tune, today I was looking down in side of the carb while I was running it at a good rev and I can see fuel spraying out of the boosters and when the throttle is let go and the engine revs down gas starts drippings and bubbling of the boosters and I get this loud wet sucking noise coming from the airbleeds and black smoke just pours out, and to make things even better when the engine is running and I leave a vac port unplugged the damn thing runs runs smooth WTF...:headbang: I'm running the recommended jets,Holley says a 570cfm 4bbl is fine and this carb is a 650. What on earth could cause this? a bad leak I can find? carb to big to small just a bad carb, power valve getting stuck? Fuel PSI is about 5/6 psi floats not sticking, floats adjusted right front and back new needle and sets new gaskets all around... I'm about to get this carb and :guns: :guns:

Rather than spraying CC, Get one of those propane torches and open the valve a little to let the gas out and pint it toward possible leaks.
I works much better than spraying CC.

sounds like a good ideal i'll give it a try.
But what could make the carb act like this could it just be a bad leak or some thing more like a lot of little things that has nothing to do with the carb its self.
