Tailgate Latch

So I got a new(used) tailgated at the swap meet, and the hole for the latch is way to small, LMC says 83-96 is the same latch, so whats the deal?? Ill get some pics later. Tailgate is aftermarket, maybe it did come with its own latch?? Anyone know?

Latch hole

My latch hole.

Drilled out the spot welds for that plate, then using a peice of paper I traced my old one out, and then cut the hole bigger.
