tailgate handle

Just snapped the tailgate handle on my '09 Ranger. Cheap piece of plastic crap.

Does anybody know if there's a metal replacement handle that will fit?

I've never seen a metal one but there may be a after market one that is metal.

Just did a quick search LMC has metal ones in black and chrome.

My '97 has a metal one from the factory.

Maybe the thing to do is take both gates apart and see if they're compatible.

I'll have a look at LMC...forgot about them.

I'm embarrassed to say I did nothing about this until this week.

Ordered a black steel handle from LMC on Monday, to fit a '93-'11 Ranger. Cost $23 including shipping. Local places wanted ~$20 for a plastic one, and $45-50 for steel.

Bolted it on just now. Fits OK, works fine. Less finger space than the steel handle on the '97, which has less space than the plastic one on the '09 did. Crappy LMC quality means it sits a little crooked looking at the tailgate, but only if you're looking for it.
