Should only be a matter of 4 wires (3 if you don't have a light hook up). I can't remember the colors of the wires, but one should be a ground, one go to the coil, one to the battery and one for a light source. I've been on a real big Autometer kick lately, but I don't think there is anything wrong with $15 tach you can get from the parts store...I just don't think their tolerances are as tight which leads to variances in actual output.

I can sell you a working vintage tach for $40.00

I have full sweep and side sweep tachs

^^^That's awesome Dennis...any particular brand?

For reference...I did pick up a NIB Autometer traditional chrome 3 5/8" tach on FSB for $25 plus shipping. It retails at just under $150.
