This is my first time on the forum. I have a 1987 F350 crew cab dually with a 351 with the 4 barrel carb. It has 75,000 miles on it and it is a great truck. I have a problem I can't figure out, so I'm here hoping someone has an answer to my problem. Here goes. I drove into the hay field and parked with the passenger side facing downhill at a pretty good angle, say 30 degree slope. When I got ready to leave, the truck wouldn't start. Wouldn't even fire. I towed it to the road with the tractor where the ground was level. I tried it again and it started instantly and ran normally. I drove it home, but on the way home, every time I made a left turn, the engine would die. If I went really slow around a left turn the engine would not die. I drove it this way for about a week. A friend told me the float in the carb was bad, so I replaced both the front and back floats. I tested the old floats in a bowl of water, and the float from the back of the carb didn't float as high as the new ones. I drove the truck with the new floats and to my dismay, the new floats made no difference. I still can't park on a slope with the passenger side downhill, and I still can't make a left turn without the engine dying. HELP!!! What is wrong with this beast? I forgot to mention, I replaced the automatic choke with a manual choke about a year ago. Otherwise it is factory.
