we're tearing down my 73 F100 stepside and need to disconnect the steering linkage under the hood...we've removed two bolts what's next?

Are you trying to remove the whole column?

If so, you will need to crawl inside remove the four bolts in the column base plate where it passes through the firewall, then remove the metal trim panel where the column meets the dash, then remove the two bolts holding the column to the dash. Don't forget to unplug the column harness. Should pull straight out through the interior then.

Did you remove the 7/16"(11 mm) 12 point bolts

Does the end of the column look like this ?

If so, you need to loosen off bolts that hold the column.... under the dash so you can slide the coupler off the shaft
