WOW...that thing is reeeeally bad azz...never knew those were available. I saw it, and thought it was a joke. I still find it hard to believe that it's for a truck, but oh well. I'd like to hear one of the experts weigh in here.

Holy chit...I just realized he's got $250 for a steering wheel and the reserve hasn't been met yet.

That wheel wasn't available on E-F-U series until 1978 and was only on 78- 83 and re-designed or re-numbered in 1980

and then a 4 spoke sport wheel for 83-89 B-series (Bus) R-series (Ranger)

Alright...thanks for settling that for me Dennis. I never knew that was actually available for 73-79's. I don't think I've ever seen one in a truck before.

got torque?
Here's a picture of the sport wheel in my truck. Mine did not come with the truck, in fact it is not even a truck wheel, it is out of an early 70's Maverick or Montego (can't remember now). Anyway, the only difference is that my wheel has a real leather cover instead of the foam covere that the truck wheels had which tends to rot and get loose on the wheel. Mine had some type of crest in the horn button, but I covered it up with a Ford blue oval wheel center. The leather is a little worn, but I'm going to see if I can clean it up a little with some black shoe polish.

I'll bet it didnt cost as much either:)

Guy at a swap meet had a $75 price tag on it, but it was missing the horn button, so he said he'd sell it for $50. I walked a couple of rows down and found another guy selling a horn button for $15, so I bought it and went back to the guy with the wheel and offered him $25 for the wheel. He sold it to me for $30. So, $45 total for the wheel and horn button, crap load less than $200.

Hey Mark...do you recall when the reserve was broken? I'm sure it was worth it to someone...I won't knock anyone for paying top buck for NOS parts...although I wouldn't have spent that much on a steering wheel.

300 was the reserve. I bid it up to 401 and stopped. I would of paid that for it. It is something that you will never come across again and to me a prime restoration starts with factory parts. I would of used it in my CC.

Funny thing is...I had a gut feeling you were involved in that auction. I figured I have never even heard of that before, much less seen it...so once it was clarified that they did exist...I figured it was pretty rare. In which case, I knew you'd be hot on it's trail. Sorry you lost out on it.

I've got a system for ebay. I find something I want watch it until 5 min before the end, then bid.
If others are having a bid war I drop it and go on.

"NEVER BID EARLY" that's my motto!!! There's always somebody out there that just wants to dump in your cornflakes!!!
