I am just wondering if i would be safe to mount my 33 inch tire and 10 hole aluminum wheel onto the factory tire rack as a full size spare? :wasntme:

Yea they seam to be considerably heavier than 31's... Im just worried about maby bending the rack or my fender of that matter.

yea they make those tire racks that are mounted on the bumpers, but then il have my holes in the side of my fender for the factory rack. I guess we will see..

Just put some torx head bolt in holes to fill them looks decent .

The mount will hold up fine , For normal guy nad road use that is . The added weight the tear apart that mount . At least mine did . Course not supposed to jump a full sized Bronco.

the added weight will bend body parts over time...then again I've seen plenty of friends do it with 35s.

Actually I wonder what an alum wheel'd 33 weighs compared to a steel wheel'd 31? Probably about the same weight.

I wish to get a plate steel rear bumper with recessed off road lights for backup lights, and some HD chevy hooks. But they make bumpers with a bigger tire carrier, which i dont like. I like the looks of the factory one. I think i will figure something out for it.

I talked to some guy who had 35's on his factory rack for over 2 years and not a problem.

Id still make some sort of bracket that goes to your bumper. My jeep tailgate almost ripped off with a 31 on it. How lame was that?

O do or anyone know if i have to increase the size of the studs that hold the tire to the rack?

I have that ugly plane jane wheel on there now, i saw someone painted theirs black, didnt looook to bad, but id rather have a factory aluminum wheel to match my other 4. Or just keep my other tire in the basement and keep the ford bronco cover...

my original gate was rusted out so i went cheap and replaced it with an after-market unit. even with the extra bracing inside, the 35 torn out the bracket in less than a year. couple of months ago i installed a factory unit and the extra bracing. hadn't hung the spare yet, but don't see a problem. the rusted out original gate held a 33 with no trouble and that was without any extra bracing

Would you consider a roof rack with a spare tire mount? I can see 2 issues with that (parking decks and wrestling a tire off the roof to fix a flat) but I think when properly installed this setup looks good - especially when the tire is mounted toward the back of the rack/vehicle. I plan to put one on my '78 Bronco and whatever else it takes to make it "10 feet tall and bulletproof"! :)

Just a thought...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I have thought about a roof rack, i would love to have one with my hilift jacks mounted up there. Buuut,,, I would still have my spare tire carrier on the truck and that wouldnt look so good.

You could take the stock one off and put some SS button head allens or something like that to fill the holes.
