Sequential Tail lights

I know you can buy all kinds of stuff to make custom LED lights from tail lights to head lights..
How hard do you think it would be to make sequential tail lights for a GEN 6?

Some thing kinda like this..

I wanted to do that to my car, but Chris told me that it takes an actual computer processor that you would have to install in order for it to do that. And how would you do that on a Gen6? How many lights do you have to be seqential?

Hey Tex...over on 7879blueovalbronco...there's a thread talking about that using LED's from semi lights, fitting them in the dentside light housing, and making them sequential...I'll see if I can find it for you.

Those taillights are illegal in Maryland. I made a set a few years ago and got pulled over for having them. Any type of osculating light on a non emergency vehicle is illegal here. Mine did the same and my rear brake light would scan back and forth like KITT of knight rider.

i don't know why the sequential lights would be a problem, but can see where the scanning back/forth lights would cause a problem.

either way...good advice - look into if it's legal.

What if you have a mid-60s Thunderbird or Cougar that has those from the factory? If I got pulled over I would be pissed.

Hey Smokey do you think you could make some for a gen 6 truck?

How are you going to arrange them on a gen-6? The Mustangs have horizontal taillights, so sequential going sideways works...but pickups have vertical tails.

Maybe I'm missing something...[confused]

Good question Ian. Would they go up and down??

Damn good Question.
Here is my idea and y'all tell me what you think.
Since the gen 6 tail lights are thin and tall I was thinking of doing the light pattern using strips of Leds going vertical and right to left or left to right, maybe each strip could be a different colored LED bright white and dark red...

Make sense?

Thats a sick idea, the execution is gonna be hard tho...

It would look cool... just gotta figure out how.

Hey Tex...dunno if this will help any...the thread doesn't seem to be as in depth as a remember. But there is discussion of fitting the LED's in the tail lights, then all you'd have to figure out is how to get them to operate sequentially:
