Seafoam

Does anyone consistently use SeaFoam in their trucks fuel system? I have used it in my Vulcan 750 since I got it. When I first got my 70 F100 I put a whole bottle (16oz) in with a full tank of gas.

Was just wondering how many people use it...

I used it in an old Dodge van a few times...seemed to help for a few hundred miles. With seafoam though, it seems like there 2 sides...the guys who swear by it and the guys that think it's snake oil.

Had never heard of it before joining a VN750 forum. They all swear by it, so I ran with it and am putting it in all gas engines I have. Normally put 1oz per gallon of gas every other time I fill up the tank.

I pour a bottle in every 9-10 tank fulls. I also pour it in my carbed trucks down the carb and shut down or through the vacuum lines to clean the crud out. Seems to help some. It sure does put out the smoke when you do it that way :)
Heard of guys putting it in the oil but I am a bit leery of doing that.

Supposedly it dissolves any varnished or bad gas in your system. As far as putting it in your oil, the only time you should do that is on the day you are replacing your oil. Put the Seafoam directly into where you normally put your oil (cannot remember the amount/quart of oil) then drive it around for 15 or so miles. It is supposed to work out any gunk in your engine. You then change your oil and you are good to go. Never put it directly into your oil if you are not going to change your oil soon.

In the oil I would be afraid of it breaking gunk loose and plugging the oil pump screen. So I think I will pass on the adding to the oil unless going to rebuild.

Then I just dump kero and atf and run it a little way cheaper and cleans better.

Yup, it still has enough lubricity so it won't harm anything internally...you should see how black your oil can get.......I've notice a difference under my valve-covers using it.

Can pick it up from any local parts store? How much do you use? Does it pretty much do the same as SF, in that it cleans out a lot of gunk and junk from your engine?

yep, i use seafoam every oil change, 1/2 can in a vacuum line, 1/2 can in gas tank.... though my truck barely blows any carbon out.... i just got a really clean, carbon free, truck i guess...

Dangitt, I knew I forgot something. Need to start using it in my lawn equipment. Do you have any issues putting in engines that use a fuel/2 stroke oil mixture?

x2...I used to just use it on seized engines or engines in unknown conditions...but recently I've been putting it in a couple hundred miles before an oil change. I've noticed my oil is getting progressively cleaner each change.
