Rotted!!!

Seriously WHO snaps s park brake cable decides then to haul the drums off and remove the parking brake lever, bar and spring and then put it back together. Now i got to go up to the snow covered truck in the woods jack it up haul the drums off and take these parts off that truck oh and ps they lost the adjusting screw and swapped it for one that isnt for the truck and you cant turn in this application WTF honestly so savage right now

I've owned 3 of these trucks and every time someone has scabbed together something to "make it work" or get by. Some times its an easy fix and sometimes it's a PITA like you are dealing with.

On the other hand, it's a perk of these trucks that you can patch them up with just about anything to get you to point B.

these parts are inside the brake drum. It is what the cable pulls on inside the drum to activate the park brake

I have some link springs but you should be able to buy a Wagner Kit.

I have some link springs but you should be able to buy a Wagner Kit.
The link springs do not come with an adjuster kit, sold by itself. Autoparts stores sell these, but there is more than one type. Make sure to get the one for 11 x 2 1/4" rear brakes (1968/83 F100, 1975/96 F150).

The parking brake lever might/might not be available from a parts store, cuz it was a Ford Dealer only part originally (C8TZ-2A176-F).

I found dozens of these NOS, but I'm not gonna list the sources, cuz the OP doesn't have the city/state he lives in...listed. Please, add this info, it makes it easier when asking for something that may not be readily available.

The autoparts stores (and Ford) adjuster kits come with the cable-make sure to replace it, even if the original looks OK.

If the cable snaps (and it will-sooner or later-guar-an-teed!), the cable guide floats around inside the drum.

And...if it gets in between the shoe and the drum when you step on the brake, it will gouge the hell oughtta the brake lining and the drum. Not Pleasant!

I had to buy an entire parts car to get the bits I needed to do the rear brakes on my Torino, which are identical to the one shown above in the rear brake diagram. The parking brake bars, the anchor plates, they all got mashed up in the centrifuge when the wheel cylinders let go at highway speed. They don't repro the right ones, they make you use a repro'd GM version which works but is more rounded on the ends.

WOW! I coulda found you the parts NOS. The same stuff was used on myriad 1960/70's Passenger Cars (T-Bird/Montego/Cougar/LTD II/Ranchero/Mark IV, V), not just Torino's.

It worked out fine, though. I had a second Torino to play with, paid $200 for the thing, guy delivered it to my yard for $20, I used a lot of parts, still have a lot of parts, and sold at least $200 worth of stuff before sending the shell to be squished. I would have kept it longer and stripped it and cut up body parts but I have nowhere to keep it all and my wife was sick of looking at the poor stripped wagon.

I don't like spending lots of money on parts I can't buy new (or don't want to pay silly prices for)
