I wouldn't say yes for sure, but that looks like the exact same part I installed on the rear doors of a lincoln town car. Maybe they used a lot of the same actuators in a lot of places.

Some E-Bay people can't always be trusted to know what... applies to what.

Without any parts manuals that go past 1989, I am at at Bill's Mercy

Hopefully he didn't answer because he was at the post office sending me that parcel he has been promising for 11 months.

I bought a Microfische last summer at an auction and it sits collecting dust in the basement :(

Mercy!! When you say rear door, does that mean BACK door aka tailgate or R/L rear doors? Using correct Ford terminology gets the correct part. If not...

ebay: 2L5Z35218A42BA (replaced: F3TZ98218A42A & F1TZ98218A42A) .. R/L FRONT Door Lock and TAILGATE Lock Actuator / Fits: 1991/2001 Explorer TWO Door.

MSRP: $78.07 // PARTSGUYED.COM price: $56.21.
------------------------------------------------
REAR doors: F87Z7826594BA (replaced: F3OY5426594A, F5TZ7826594A) .. R/L REAR Door Lock Actuator / Fits: 1991/2001 Explorer/Mountaineer FOUR Door.

MSRP: $72.93 // PARTSGUYED.COM price: $52.51.

Even if you did have the parts catalog...you would still be at my mercy. You wanna know why?

Because...this ebay 2L5Z number isn't listed. I had to use the FoMoCo Dealer Parts Locator System to find out what the original part numbers were...and then PartsGuyEd's website...to discover what the puppy fits.

And...the clueless (so what else is new?) ebay seller has in-correct info as to what the puppy actually fits...and the years it fits.

Bill read the last sentence in my OP again

'With' should have read as 'Will'

Don't need to...I figured that out when I read it...then gave the correct applications for the ebay actuator.

Got a used one today when in Calgary

They felt bad not explaining the parts interchange & vehicle locator codes on the print out they made me ..which caused me to walk an extra mile in the yard before getting a ride on the gator (I was walking with my cane today) they went back out got the part for me brought it back to the office for no charge so I bought 2 4 litre jugs of antifreeze/ premix Coolant for $6.00 and I was on my way.
Tomorrow it gets installed if my legs hold up.

:rotz: (sigh) Another cane user...I can just picture us climbing around in rafters of junkyards and dealers attics.

A pair of gimps is what we are.

The good newz is...I have DP plates...so we don't have to walk as much after I park the behemouth.

The liftgate cylinder/key is a separate part, and the only way to get it is with the complete lock set.

I think the following is what you want, but you need to see the pic to verify.

Section 400, page 28 / Slide 90/ LT 10 / Illustration: 05-07 (12 slides make up the 1990/2001 light truck catalog).

F3TZ7843170A (replaced F1TZ7843170A) .. Liftgate Remote Control / Available from Ford.

Fits: 1991/97 Explorer / MSRP: $60.88 // PARTSGUYED.COM price: $43.84.

You cannot get just the liftgate lock cylinder, you have to buy a complete lock set...and there are FOUR different ones.

With anti-theft, w/central lock system before (1) / from (1) 6/1995.

Without anti-theft, w/central lock system before (1) / from (1) 6/1995.

You're gonna find out real qwik that these modern rolling piles of misery are far more complicated than the older rolling piles of misery that you (and I) are faaar more familiar with.

Just wait till you have ta deal with Calibration Codes!
