Arrogant A-hole At-Large
I'm referring to the hood structure on a few of the new Fords on the road. From the first time I saw the design, I couldn't help but think the notch beside the the 'dome' was gonna be good for anything other than rust in the future. Looks cool, sure, but I kept equating it to the drip rail rust issues on dentsides. Then, once I got my Mustang, and see how water just sits in these notches, I don't know how these aren't going to be problem areas in the future. I'm not sure if they're engineered to be a drainage site, but when it rains overnight, I come out to sitting water. When I'm driving down the road and it's raining, it's almost like the water is protected by since it's down in the notch...there's some movement, but it takes a while, even when cruising 70mph. So I guess my question is to be enlightened by someone about this design or construction...were there actions taken to prevent future rust? If not, with as many Ford vehicles that have this design, I could potentially see a whole buncha rusted out hoods being replaced 10-20 years down the line.
