Here is the FIRST photo I took of my Grand Marquis Dec 21st 2010

I chose MGM for 2 reasons.
One is that this is where I bought my 78 F150 back in 78

and

because MGM stands for MCfarlane Goodacre Motors
and Mercury Grand Marquis

It looks cold though.

It was nice today Ernie...maybe 15...but he is 2 hours north, so it might have been colder..or warmer...or the same :D

Nice car. Will you be calling it the MGM Grand? I drove one of those about 500 miles to Denver on snow-packed, icy roads, and I was surprised at how well it handled. Very good weight distribution.

well 2 issues have arisen

1)No heat in passenger compartment ..froze my *** last night...70 mile drive in -18*C on the hwy.

2) Left rear passenger door won't open

On the brghter side, the car hauled heavy merchandise like a trooper.
I was at an auction and saved thousands of bucks

Got a motorized parts cleaner for $10.00
Floor style water cooler for $20.00
Paper shredder with can for $10.00
3 small tarps and 3 Large tarps for $30.00
A Peavey XR600-C and 2 Yorkville Elite Speakers for $300.00
Electric Can Opener and Coffee Grinder for $15.00
12 sets of Xenon bulbs for $25.00.....http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...t-Bulbs-All-Sorts-of-Types-W0QQAdIdZ245223184
A 84" x 36" White Cabinet for the laundry room
An outdoor Welcome Mat..(should have said Take Off Eh !) for $5.00
A double Queen size Travel mattress. $50.00. This travel bed is really more comfortable than the single blow-up mattress
2 Boxes of Contruction Adhesive compund for $10.00
1 Box of 12 Match looking BBQ lighters for $10.00

It was a half good half bad day.

Now to check to see of the blend door is the problem.

Nice lookin' land yacht-parks EZ within a city block!

It's most likely the A.T.C. (Automatic Temperature Control) module, not a blend door (basic number 18A318) motor or that 19BBB8 = A/C Heater Vacuum Control Selector Valve Assy we just talked about on the phone.

The other problem associated with these cars is the power door lock actuators...the most likely reason the rear door won't open.

Hey Bill, just wondering if all the door lock actuators for Fords are the same model, they all seem to be a regular point of breakage.

There's a gazillion different types of door lock actuators. Those that are used on Crown Vics/Mercury Grand Marquis/Lincoln Town Cars are exclusive to these vehicles only.

btw Dennis, these cars have child safety locks, look for the lever on the rear door posts. If the lever is in the lock position, the door cannot be opened from the inside.

Thanks again Bill

Well further to my no heat issue.

The AC works fine blows tremendous cold.. But the PROBLEM is NO HEAT

therefore all Troubleshooting points to faulty Blend Door.

any idea how far into the abyss called: Behind The Dashboard..one has to venture to solve the issue ?
