Oil pressure gauge

Hey everyone .. When I first start up and drive my oil pres. Gauge reads normal. When cruising down highway at speed , reads fine, but if exit and come to stop then cruise Through town , stop and go,... It reads nothin on gauge , or real low. Have to get on it to get it To go up ... Is this something that should be replaced?? Thanks

I would replace the sending unit idk if you can check it or not there cheaper than the pump lol

I'm shure some one else will know if it could be anything else but that's what it was in my 89 same symtems

sounds like the sending unit.. but put a manual oil pressure gauge on it to check.

cause it may be a worn oil pump..

when cool the oil's thicker.. higher oil pressure. warmed up and while rpms are up.. still solid oil pressure.. but now that the oils hot, it's thinner, and rpms drop, oil pump is pumping slower, oil pressure drops.. if it's worn enough it could do this..

one way you can prolong any work is when changing oil next putter a much heavier weight oil in it..

but it's easier just to replace the oil pump..
