Hello to all,
I have a '68 F-250 that has been sitting out in the yard for several years and instead of just dragging it off to the junk yard I thought maybe someone who has the same love of Ford F-250's as I have would like to have it for parts or a refurbish project. I am in Eureka, California and the truck has a non-op on it. Eureka is 250 miles north of San Fran on the coast.
The truck is a F-250 Ranger with a 390 2bbl and a C-6 Tranny, 2 wheel drive. At one time it was set up to carry a large overhead camper and has an extending back bumper.
Original seats (w/covers). Aftermarket carpeting (black). I think there is a small ding in the windshield. Side windows and wing vents are good. Last time I was in it the radio worked. It has most of the original trim and all of the original logos (Ranger, F-250). It has not had any parts removed, per se, it was T-boned in a residential 4-way at low speed on the passenger side right between the front and rear wheels. The impact was very modest, the door still works and the rear wheel was missed. The other car was a mess.
I drove this truck for several years as a delivery vehicle for product I manufactured and distributed in the 5 Western States. At 70 mph with a heavy load it I could back off the gas pedal and just roll along on fumes. It was/is the most amazing pick-up I have ever owned. I used to have dreams of refurbishing, but my life has taken too many turns and that is not going to happen. I would like to see this old faithful truck have a chance at a second life, or at least be a donor to someone who is working up a similar truck.
The engine was/is strong. I had the tranny well serviced about 2 years before I parked it. The power steering unit went out, and before I could get it repaired (still drove it of course) the steering coupling went out (that set of bolts/plates/buffers just past the steering wheel and before the power steering pump). It is not drivable, but I do believe that if I put a battery on her, got a clean fuel set up on her, sprayed a bit of quick start in the carb she would fire right up.
And be Loud As Hell(o) . . . the muffler is gone, along with the exhaust gaskets and who knows what else. We had it going 2-3 years ago when someone came out and was interested and it sounded like a P-38 making a low pass.
The truck is Pale Green/White and I have, as an added bonus, a complete set of Ford Service Manuals.
I am not interested in setting up any kind of "bidding war" . . . I would be quite pleased with any reasonable offer. It will have to be trailered.
I set up my account to receive e-mails from members, so if you are interested please drop me a note. If you have suggestions as to any other boards I should post to please let me know, but really Ford Truck Fanatics . . . could not think of a better place to let folks know of a 45 year old classic looking for a new home.
We have a annual car show up here, Fortuna AutoRama, every July . . . does my heart good to see those old Trucks all gussied up and ready for the Drive In. My thanks to all of you who continue to keep alive a part of America that was so Grand. There is nothing like a Ford.
