Hey guys,

Just thought i would start out by saying that I just joined today and i have already found A TON of awesome info for the rebuild of my 77 f 150. Currently the truck is in my garage waiting for the intake valley pan gasket to show up as i bought one off ebay and quickly found out as i opened it to use it that it wasnt the right one, it was for a 70 -74 351C. The guy selling it thought all 351"s were the same and marked it on the site as for a 351M anyway lesson learned summit racing from now on!!!!!! Just thought i would post a few pics of the truck on here to show the progress already.

Howdy. We've got quite the following of dentside owners here; you'll find some good information.

The compression on the engine was excellent on every cylinder and everything looks to be in excellent shape all the valves look like they are seated properly and i redid the valve stems while i had the heads off the engine, they werent cracked or in bad shape at all but they were hard as rocks and new ones came with the gasket kit i ordered so why not for extra insurance. The engine in the truck was apparently blown by the original owner at 35,000 kms and a complete crate engine was put into it, the truck only has 78,000 kms on it. When I started the overhaul on the engine i found there was still a lifting eye bolt on the intake manifold which sorta confirms this engine was changed. I believe i have found out why the head gasket went was because i believe the rad was changed and wasnt filled with coolant and she was overheated. I checked the block and heads for warpage and they were good. As for the user name on this it was a typo that i never picked up on until i had everything confirmed :) Also apparently the 4 spd tranny, clutch and transfer case has been rebuilt or replaced. so i should have an excellent starting point with the powertrain on the truck when i get the engine back together and running.
