new truck - 88 Ranger

Well, the s10 decided it had, had enough of my abuse and the motor decided to lock up on me.

rebuild kit $700, new crate motor $1500, ranger $1200... I chose the ranger.

So, I'm the proud owner of a '88 Ranger, 4x4, 2.9 v6, auto.

Those are tuff trucks. Watch the water temps and it should last along time.
If you over heat it the heads will crack on the 2.9

Yeah I'm having fuel troubles out of it though. fixing to put fuel pumps in it and see if that fixes it

Congrats! more than enough power in the V6 2.9 Had a '86 BroncoII, with the gearing and weight ratio, it would go anywhere.

What is it doing? I have had numerous Rangers and BII's. I think I can tear one apart with my eyes closed I have modified so many of them.

No check engine light and for a while(last week) it acted like it was running out of gas, but if u let off of mashed on it it would pick back up. I straight piped it yesterday and that issue seemed to go away. Then today I was driving and it Just died. not much if any pressure to the fuel rail. selinoid is working. And can't hear pump running. Bed is off it right now (was a,*****. Had to grind all the bolts off. ) and new pump is in it bit waiting on battery to charge. Killed it earlier trying to start it.

My buddy just got an 86 with a 2.9 we was out playin and a dodge tryed 2 ffollow us threw a hole lol we climed a steep *** hill I thought we where goin ove

I always enjoy pulling out full sized trucks with my Rangers.

Yeah I kind of see the same thing hapening when the 250 gets done, his is real light and just sort of sits on top of the mud... the dodge has roughly the same size tires and sank 2 the frame, redneck (that's my buddys nick name) bent his front bumper and put a small buckel in his pas fender

To get this guy out we had 1 truck pulling him backwords and my buddy went around to push well the dodge got some tracktion and redneck grabed a half secont later bumping front ends. That is the only damage on this truck and that was his first day playin in it lmao

Check the inertia switch. It is on the inside of the truck on the passenger side near the transmission hump it may have gotten tripped or went bad you can unplug it and use a jumper wire to see if it is bad.
If not check the relays on the pass. fender I think it is the green one you can swap the one beside it to check it.

Jumped switch and changed relays...no pressure. no change at all. Still clicKing still no pumps running

Time to get the meter or the test light out and seeing where you are losing the voltage. Check at the harness just under the cab there is a connector that some times gets corroded or rusted.

Well, from the top.. it has two new fuel pumps, a new fuel filter, new fuel pump relay, by passed inertia switch, power to the fuse box, good fuse, relays click, but don't have to power to either pump.... straight wire from the battery to both pumps solves this. Both pumps now run.. but I ain't getting much pressure to the rail, and no fuel.. it's all air.

Haven't pulled codes yet.
