New to the whole Forum thing, First Truck (had to be a Ford)

Hey guys, New to the whole Forum thing, and well, I stumbled across this site, and thought I could use it to get some guidance on the progress on my first truck which of course had to be a Ford smilieFordlogo , because, well anything else just isn't a truck now is it?

Now some details on the truck.

This is what i know so far, haven't dug down deep yet to figure anything else out.

It's a 1979 Ford F150 Supercab, Has a solid 8ft bed.

Some things I thought were interesting was that it's got a Tool Box on the side of the bed, and has Factory Air Conditioning lines, the compressor was removed. But still has some of the old lines tucked in spots underneath the hood.

Under the Hood, at the heart of the Truck is what I believe to be the original 302. Appears to be recently rebuilt. And has for sure been Cammed. The previous owner said it's a Summit Racing Street And Strip Cam. Know nothing else about it. Also has a Summit Racing intake manifold. On top of the Manifold sits a Carter AFB 625 CFM carburetor. Has nice throttle response, and good pick up. Also has an MSD Blaster 3 Ignition pack.

Other than that, there's only Cosmetic upgrades, such as the Ford Motorsport Valve Covers, and the 2.5" true dual exhaust, with Flowmaster super 44's.

The interior is not the bad actually, need a head liner and carpet, could use a new cover on the bench seat, but not bad at all for a '79.

The Body is practically rust free, with exception of the passenger rear quarter panel, but she came with a new panel, just need to cut and weld, and whatnot. Something i have no clue how to do.

Overall , i love this truck.

Traded a 1994 Dodge Shadow for her, and don't regret it one bit.

Let me know if any of you have any suggestions, or ideas for her.

I'll be glad to listen and take your advice!

Bill.

P.S.

More pics to follow, once i figure this whole forums thing out LOL :hammer:

not a bad truck, sure beats a dodge shadow! lol.welcome

Thanks guys!

Any ideas of things you can do with these to make them unique?

New to the whole truck thing. Was tired of the little cars, and always wanted a truck.

I've been thinking of like a brush guard or a push bar or something of that nature on the front.

Any idea where you can find one for these things?

NOS or aftermarket or used? NOS...one of our key resources might able to locate a vendor, or you're relegated to searching ebay, c/l, etc. As for aftermarket...I know Bronco Graveyard offered them, they still may...but from what I've heard the fit is subpar. Used parts, just gotta get searching junkyards or truck classifieds...maybe a member here has a spare one. IIRC, the 77 bull bar has a different fit than the 78/9 bull bar.

Oh, and does anyone know how common the factory air, and toolbox on the bed are on these?

I personally haven't seen any, but that might just be because there aren't any around here.

I'd assume a/c frequency was determined by region. As for the tool box, I see about a 50/50 split.
