new ignition, no brakes

Hello. I recently installed a new ignition in my 1968 f 100. When I plugged it in one of the wires sparked and smoked and disconnected itself. Not knowing what this was yet I started the truck and everything seemed to work. Except for my BREAKS! I traced the wire back to the pressure differential valve. I thought this was a light or something but I guess not. Do these wires supply power to operate the valve? If so where would be the best place to install them? I did read in my manual about centering the valve but will it have any effect with the wires disconnected? Sorry but still learning! Thanks!

Shouldnt be anything electricly operated that would cause your brakes to go out. Maybe your brake lights but nothin else. Do you have a camera to take a picture of what your talkin about?

Agreed, brakes are totally mechanical. I don't understand what could have caused the brakes to quit, I'm guessing it's not related. Pics if you can, that may help.

Brake lights, or brakes themselves? I could believe brakelights, but the stopping power of the brakes are independent from any electronic components. The electrical side of it just reacts to what the brakes are doing (lights, proportioning valve, etc.)

Nothing electronic would make your brakes stop working.
