My 86 f150 302 efi ran ok wen I got it but did need a long warm up or it would stall. My first computer control truck. A code reader did not show anything. so I got a hayes book and started checking each electric control. I found a bad egr position sensor and bad (by resistance check) egr and thermactor solenoid control valves. The egr valve moved with a vacxuum pump but needed to be cleaned. The port in the upper intake was closed solid with carbon. Cleaning carbon from the throttle body helped some, so I removed the upper intake to clean it right now I am trying to find replacments for the thermactor control and egr control solinoids, the egr valve did not have a part number but I found it in rock auto but part not available there or any where I called so far. The thermactor solenoid has a part number on it but not available. Any one wit a source for them? I wonder if a later model part would work. Still do not know about the lack of codes on the scanner Any ideas anyone?
